How to Play Tetris
Tetris is the undisputed king of block puzzles. It tests your spatial awareness and reflexes under pressure.
Basic Rules
- Falling Tetrominoes: Geometric shapes composed of four square blocks (Tetrominoes) will continuously fall from the top of the grid.
- Controls: You can Move (Left/Right), Rotate, and Drop the pieces.
- Clearing Lines: Your goal is to arrange the falling pieces to form completely solid horizontal lines with no gaps. When a line is complete, it disappears, earning you points!
- Game Over: If the stack of pieces reaches the very top of the board, the game ends.
Pro Strategies
- The Tetris Smash: The holy grail of Tetris is clearing four lines at once (called a "Tetris"). Build a solid block with a one-grid-wide gap on the right or left wall, and wait for the long "I" piece to drop in and clear it all at once for massive points!
- Keep it Flat: Try to keep the top of your stack as flat and even as possible. Creating deep "valleys" (narrow gaps 3 or more blocks deep) is dangerous because only the "I" piece can fit inside them.
- Hard Drop vs Soft Drop: Use Soft Drop (down arrow) to slide pieces quickly but safely. Once you are a master, use Hard Drop (Spacebar) to instantly snap the piece to the bottom and speed up the game.

Q: Can I save a piece for later? A: In modern Tetris rules, yes! You can use the "Hold" function to swap the currently falling piece with the piece in your Hold box.
Q: Why does it keep getting faster? A: As you clear more lines, your Level increases. Each level drop speed is faster than the last. Survival becomes the ultimate test of reflexes!
