How to Play Sokoban
Sokoban is a classic transport puzzle where you play as a warehouse keeper pushing crates to designated target locations.
Basic Rules
- Movement: You can move Up, Down, Left, or Right to navigate the warehouse.
- Pushing Boxes: If you move towards a box (📦), you will push it one square forward, provided the space behind the box is empty.
- No Pulling: You can only push boxes forward. You cannot pull them backward!
- The Goal: Push every single box onto a target square (★). When all boxes are securely on targets, you win!
Strategies to Avoid Getting Stuck
- Beware of Corners: If you push a box into a corner formed by two walls, it becomes permanently stuck. The puzzle is impossible to solve from that point on.
- Wall Hugging: Pushing a box against a flat wall limits its movement to that single axis. Be very careful not to push multiple boxes against the same wall if they need to be separated later.
- Think in Reverse: A common high-level strategy is to look at the target squares and imagine the last few moves required to get the boxes there, then work backward to your current state.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q: Can I push two boxes at the same time? A: No! You lack the superhuman strength required to push more than one box at a time. If two boxes are lined up in front of you, your path is blocked.
Q: What if I make a mistake? A: You can always use the "Undo" button to take back your last move, or restart the level entirely if you've really tangled things up.
